Clay

When someone asks me how I got started in polymer clay and making beads, I always reply: “It’s all my cousin’s fault!”

About 5 years ago when she came for a visit, she told me about her ‘memory’ hangings she was making. When we visited a local bead store, I couldn’t believe the price she paid for a couple of little porcelain rabbit beads. After she left, I tried to figure out something that she could do to make her own beads for her hangings. That’s when I remembered that I had some sort of clay in my supplies.

I conducted some experiments, purchased more clay, and began to research more about what a person could do with polymer clay. I was astounded at what I found.

Today, I have a ’stash’ of clay that calls to me frequently. I enjoy making beads, especially swirled lentils.
