One of those days……
Yesterday at lunch time, I invited a couple of friends over for dinner tonight. I had it all planned out in my mind……baked ham, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce from real cranberries, homegrown green beans and some kind of dessert. My friend offered to bring the dessert so that was one thing off my mind.
So last night, I cleaned off the dining table and put a new cloth on. My dh was upset because I had dumped all his crud that he had laying on the table into his recliner. I wasn’t in the mood for discussion and told him it needed to be put away in a proper place, not the dining table. This morning, when I started to clean, he moved the stuff to the top of the stereo. I gave him ‘the look’. He went out muttering to himself.
As I had to go downstairs to get the beans and cranberries, I decided enough is enough and took his pile of junk and dumped it into the middle of his desk. When he came back after noon, the conversation ran in monosyllables. Tough! I refuse to live in clutter.
Later as I went to put another piece of wood in the stove, I accidentally touched the door with my arm. Ow!!!!! If you’ve ever burned yourself on an oven, you’ll know what I mean. So that didn’t make things any better. As I was cleaning, I realized that I needed to get my rolls made. I’m just starting the dough in my KitchenAid when it starts making a weird noise. Nooooooooo…..not something wrong with my new mixer. I switched from the mixing to the dough hook thinking maybe it was too thick already. A few seconds of mixing and weird thunks again. It was at that point that I noticed the cover for accessory hole was missing. Could it have dropped into the dough? Nothing else to do but dive in and see. Feeling around with my fingers with dough almost to my wrist, I suddenly touched something that moved. I pulled it out, let the dough drip off as best as possible and there it was. Gads what a mess.
So once I got the dough cleaned off the cover and my hands, I went back to mixing the dough. It’s now sitting rising (I hope). Now I just need to finish cleaning the house while watching the clock to make sure I get the rolls in on time. I need the oven for the ham by 3……ack!
